AnHeC (I'm too fucking busy and vice versa)

Hi! My name is Anna, "You'd really like me if you got to know me. I've known me for years and I love me."

Batch edits - where to find them and how do you eat that?

I wrote this (like most of my obvious tutorial posts) because disturbingly large amount of people keeps asking about it. If it's obvious for you, don't hate me, just move along. Here's a nice page brake so it doesn't take up your feed ^^

Yes, you can edit entire shelves at once!

You want to know more I assume? Good.

* You may want to check out my post about creating new book statuses.

Go to your shelf view.

Switch to a table view:

That's where all the cool things happen

Let's say I want to change my entire old imported favourites shelf into a proper 'favourite' status.

Choose the one shelf you want to work on:

Now I see only those 27 books

Tick the ones you want:

Or all at once:

Then click on:

You get all your shelf options displayed + your statuses (read, currently reading, planning to read) + statuses you created (like mine underlined DNF status)

I ticked a favourite status:

* this way you can only add shelves, because each book has a different set of them, so... there's nothing to 'un-tick' so to speak. In other words I don't know how to un-shelve big amounts of books. Someone else might. But really? Do you need that option desperately? Just delete a shelf if it's redundant.

Save and you're done:

Now, if you want to you can delete the previous shelf (once you hover your cursor over the shelf name rename/delete options appear)

Now I'm left only with :

 You're done!

What else can you do in a table view?

Editing shelves of a single book is particularly convenient in that view:

You can tick, un-tick, change status and shelves:

And then just close:

Changes are appearing as you click and unclick them so you see this list changing:

WARNING!!!

This:

Doesn't remove a book just from one shelf, it's a total erasure (I think) All your data attached to it will say bye bye (I know, I clicked it. Don't judge me.)

I think that covers the basics. You're smart. You can figure it out ;)
